In partnership with Procter & Gamble and the Bethel Network
The Safal MRM Foundation in partnership with Bethel Network are implementing the “Always Keeping Girls in School” project in Kilifi County. It is a one year project aiming to help 1000 girls access their education with dignity. The program is aimed at building the girls’ character and helping them understand their behavioural change by using trending styles such as edutainment to train them on life skills, puberty and menstrual hygiene management.
A deliberate effort has been made to target schools that have the very vulnerable children, where there are no other service providers targeting them. One of the activities of this project is to give an annual supply of sanitary pads to each girl in the selected schools studying between standard 6 and standard 8 classes.
In the first phase of this project sanitary pads donated by Proctor & Gamble were distributed to 663 girls from 10 Primary Schools in Kilifi County.
Through this project we aim to see:
- Reduced absenteeism and school dropouts
- Improved performance in academics
- Increased self-confidence
- Increase in transition from primary school to high school level
