In the heart of our community, a quiet revolution is unfolding. It’s not one marked by grand fanfare or sweeping declarations but by the steady, determined efforts of the Safal MRM Foundation to uplift and empower. This revolution is driven by a commitment to health, education, and the empowerment of women and youth, initiatives that are reshaping lives and building brighter futures.
The well-being of our youth is a cornerstone of community strength, and at Mabati Technical Training Institute (MTTI), mental health is being brought into the spotlight. On a pivotal day, students gathered for a session led by Shayna and Anoushri Chandaria, psychology majors interning at the foundation. Their mission was clear: to break the silence surrounding mental health and provide practical tools for resilience.
The Chandaria sisters shared their expertise, addressing stress, anxiety, and depression; issues often hidden behind brave faces. They challenged the stigma associated with mental health struggles, advocating for a culture of openness and support. Introducing healthy coping mechanisms and encouraging students to seek help fostered a sense of hope and understanding. This session was a significant step towards creating a supportive environment where mental health is prioritized.

Recognizing the unique challenges faced by young people, Mabati Medical Centre recently launched an Adolescent and Youth Friendly Clinic; a safe haven for addressing mental health issues. This initiative provides a space where youth can seek help without fear of judgment, supported by professionals dedicated to their well-being. The clinic is a testament to the foundation’s proactive approach to health, ensuring that young people have the resources they need to thrive.
More over, empowerment takes many forms, and at MTTI, young women are being equipped with the knowledge to take control of their futures. A dedicated team from Mabati Medical Centre facilitated a transformative session on sexual and reproductive health. This session was more than a lecture; it was a powerful dialogue that provided young women with essential information on contraception, the HPV vaccine, and feminine hygiene.
The nurses addressed myths and misconceptions, empowering the girls to make informed decisions about their health. Shayna and Anoushri Chandaria added depth to the session by discussing stress management and the importance of finding supportive networks. This initiative not only educated but also inspired confidence, reinforcing the foundation’s commitment to the holistic well-being of its students.

Education is a powerful tool for transformation, and the Safal MRM Foundation is committed to making it accessible and impactful. By integrating health and empowerment initiatives into the educational framework at MTTI, the foundation is fostering an environment where students can excel academically and personally. This holistic approach ensures that students are knowledgeable, resilient, confident, and prepared to face life’s challenges.

The work of the Safal MRM Foundation extends beyond the classroom. Last month, in honor of Men’s Health Month, Mabati Medical Centre organized a Men’s Health Awareness campaign which was hosted at MTTI and Mariakani Secondary school. The two events benefited more than 900 young men, highlighting the foundation’s comprehensive commitment to community well-being.
The efforts of the Safal MRM Foundation are creating ripples of change that extend far beyond the immediate community. Through a steadfast commitment to health, education, and youth empowerment, the foundation is not only transforming individual lives but also building a stronger, more resilient community. As we look to the future, the impact of these initiatives will continue to grow, lighting the way for a brighter, more hopeful tomorrow.

That’s the goal; to make young people know that we care about them.
Taking a break when you feel overwhelmed can help sometimes. Talking about it helps more though.

Yes, a youth-friendly clinic at Mabati Medical Centre! It’s working out great, a safe space for young people to share their life challenges, and they are actually opening up. We have served more than 1,000 youth and adolescents since the launch.
